Summer Educational Seminars
This summer Doctors of Audiology Hearing Care of Hastings is focusing on educating the community regarding hearing and communication. Katrina Balvance, Staff Audiologist at Doctors of Audiology, is presenting four informal seminars on topics of interest for those with or without hearing loss. Everyone is welcome, those with or without known hearing losses! Topics include:
Communication Tips:
Wednesday June 23, 1:30 pm
We’ll discuss some communications tips to improve daily communication with people who are hard of hearing. This chat is appropriate for people with or without hearing aids and their communication partners.
Choosing Hearing Aids:
Wednesday July 14, 10:00 am
We’ll discuss things to expect from a hearing evaluation and the process that should follow to obtain appropriate hearing aids and follow up care. This chat is appropriate for people who are thinking about getting hearing aids and their family.
How Do We Hear?
Wednesday July 28, 10:00 am
Ever wondered how your ears work? We’ll discuss general ear anatomy and how we hear, types and causes of hearing loss, how hearing loss effects communication, and signs of hearing loss. This chat is appropriate for everyone.
Use and Care of Hearing Aids:
Wednesday August 11, 10:00 am
Do you have a hearing aid, but are unsure what to do with all the accessories and cleaning tools it came with? We’ll discuss appropriate use and care, cleaning and trouble-shooting of hearing aids and demonstrate common cleaning tools and accessories. This chat is appropriate for anyone who uses a hearing aid.
